- The World Health Organization was formed on October 24, 1945 as part of the United Nations' efforts to promote global peace, security and better living conditions for all.
- The World Health Organization (WHO) was established on April 7, 1948, by merging the League of Nations Health Organization, the Office International d'Hygiene Publique, and the International Classification of Diseases.
- on 12 January 1948, India became a member of WHO.
