Context
Recently, the Minister of Communications, Railway, and Electronics & Information Technology launched two significant programs on the Sanchar Saathi portal. The name of two programs is - Chakshu and Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP).

What is Chakshu?
- Chakshu is a program facilitating citizens to report suspicious communications.
- Chakshu means eyes.
- It is developed by the Department of Telecommunications.
- The platform is accessible at sancharsaathi.gov.in/sfc.

Primary objectives of Chakshu:
- To report various types of fraud related to bank accounts, payment wallets, SIM cards, gas and electricity connections, KYC updates, impersonation, and sextortion.
- To enable proactive reporting of suspicious activities, contributing to the prevention and mitigation of telecom-related fraud and spam calls.
- In case, a citizen is already a victim of cyber-crime or financial fraud, it is advised to report at
- cyber-crime helpline number 1930 or
- website https://www.cybercrime.gov.in of Government of India.
What is a Digital Intelligence Platform?
- Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) is a secure and integrated platform created for curbing the misuse of telecom resources.
- The DIP is developed by the Department of Telecommunications.

Primary Objectives of DIP: -
- To ensure intelligence sharing and information exchange among the stakeholders.
- Telecom Service Providers (TSPs)
- Law enforcement agencies (LEAs)
- Banks and financial institutions (FIs)
- Social media platforms
- Identity document issuing authorities
- To work as a backend repository for the citizen-initiated requests on the Sanchar Saathi portal for action by the stakeholders.
- The DIP platform is not accessible to citizens.
About Sanchar Saathi Portal

- The Department of Telecommunications has introduced the Sanchar Saathi Portal in 2023.
- It is an innovative initiative aimed at empowering mobile subscribers and enhancing their security while increasing awareness of government initiatives.
- The portal incorporates two significant modules known as Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) and Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP).
