Noteworthy, On 20 June 1947 the Bengal Legislative Assembly held a meeting to decide if the Bengal Presidency would stay with India or Pakistan, or be divided.
As a result, the decision was made to divide Bengal into west Bengal and East Pakistan (which later became Bangladesh) and the Radcliffe Line was drawn later to mark the boundary
On 29 August, 2023 Ms. Banerjee had called for an all-party meeting and bought resolution to discuss which day should be observed as the State’s Foundation Day.
This resolution was brought under the Rule 169 of the rules of procedure of the conduct of the business in the House.
