The National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) will be launched across 152 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in 26 States and 3 Union Territories (UTs) in India.

About NAKSHA:
- Background: Announced in 2024 as part of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).
- The project aims to improve land record management in urban areas, ensure accurate documentation of land ownership, and enhance urban planning.

- Creation and update of urban land records to ensure reliable documentation of land ownership.

- 1. Conduct aerial surveys and provide orthorectified imagery to state and UT governments for accurate mapping.
- Web-GIS Platform: Developed by Madhya Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation (MPSEDC) for managing digital land records.
- National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI) will provide storage infrastructure.
- States and UTs will conduct field surveys using aerial imagery, leading to the publication of land records.
Program Cost: The total cost of the project is ₹194 crore, fully funded by the Government of India.
