Green Rising Initiative

Context

• UNICEF's Generation Unlimited, in collaboration with India's Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, has introduced the "Green Rising" initiative at COP28.

About

1. Objective: To empower youth-led climate actions and solutions.
2. The initiative was officially launched at the Dubai Cares-hosted RewirEd Summit.
3. The RewirEd Summit at COP28 marks the first-ever global summit focusing on the intersection of education and climate.
4. In 2018, the UN Secretary-General launched Generation Unlimited, a global Public-Private-Youth Partnership dedicated to co-creating and delivering innovative solutions on a global scale.
5. In India, the YuWaah campaign under Generation Unlimited focuses on engaging youth to drive impactful environmental actions at the grassroots level.
