G20 LEADERS ADOPTS NEW DELHI DECLARATION

The G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration is the result of the leaders' consensus during the G20 Summit in India in 2023.

In a significant move to increase the representation of developing nations in the forum, the G20 leaders decided to welcome the African Union as a permanent member.
The AU's participation in the G20 would provide the Global South a stronger voice inside the group and present an opportunity to change international trade, finance, and investment.
It makes it possible for African interests and viewpoints to be heard and acknowledged inside the G20.

The governments of India, the US, Saudi Arabia, the European Union, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, and Italy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create the IMEC.
The Partnership for Global Infrastructure Investment (PGII), a larger project, includes IMEC.
The PGII was first unveiled in June 2021 in the UK at the G7 meeting.
Through a combination of public and private investments, PGII seeks to finance infrastructure projects in developing nations.
A massive infrastructure initiative known as IMEC links Europe, the Middle East, and India.
The project proposes to create a network of shipping lanes and railroads for transportation.
IMEC offers an alternative infrastructure network in response to China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Transition of G20 Presidency: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva the traditional gavel of the G20 chair. Lula da Silva will officially assume the presidency on December 1, 2023.
